Saturated fat - macronutrient with a bad reputation. But is it deserved?

👉 There is a great debate about whether saturated fats are healthy or not, so I'm interested in how you perceive this subject. 🤔

Do you consider consuming saturated fats healthy❓

If you do, in what amounts do you consume them❓

👉 I believe that a healthy diet should be about balanced meals that include saturated fats.

👉 Trends in nutrition are sometimes drastically changing, and what is considered healthy now will maybe not be in the future. Try not to bother with this too much and do what feels the best for you. 🙂

Latest studies lack any clear evidence that directly links saturated fats with heart diseases.

  • The impact of saturated fats on health is one of the most controversial topics in nutrition.

  • There are two opposing sides, with very divided opinions.

  • One side claims they are very harmful, and the other says we can include them in a healthy diet.

What is the truth?

Saturated fat intake may increase the risk of certain heart diseases, which is why it has such a bad reputation.

But this doesn’t mean that it causes heart disease directly; it only increases risk factors.

Genetic variability and lifestyle are significant to consider.

We are all different, and one size doesn’t fit all.

We need to look at diet as a whole and not blame any macronutrients for certain diseases.

A healthy diet is all about well-balanced meals, but some saturated fats we should avoid as much as we can are:

  • Fried food

  • Processed meat

  • Fast food

  • Sugary baked goods
