Myth Debunked

One of the most famous and most widespread myths related to nutrition, which is, at the same time, almost completely incorrect.

Since I was a kid, older people were always telling me that it’s important not to skip breakfast.

And we all probably share the same story.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”

Now we know that the composition of your meals is more important than the timing.

Why is this a myth?

The problem that lies behind many breakfast products is that they usually contain a lot of sugar and simple carbohydrates. After an entire night of fasting, these simple carbs are digested quickly, causing your blood sugar levels, as well as insulin levels, to rise quickly. Your body stops burning fat and begins storing the simple carbohydrates, often as fat.

What should you opt for instead?

🔸 Steer clear of sugary foods and go for whole, natural foods, including a mix of fat, carbs, and protein, so as to keep you satisfied.

🔸 Try new recipes such as combining eggs, spinach, mushrooms, vegetables, ham or cottage cheese with complex carbs.

🔸 If you have lived a healthy life without including breakfast in your routine, it is perfectly fine to continue doing the same.

🔸 If you eat breakfast only sporadically, it may help you to make it a regular habit. Try it for a week and decide for yourself what feels better.
